Punta Gorda
4. Punta Gorda, FL
Located on Florida's Gulf Coast, Punta Gorda has the best economy score in the nation. Current and future job growths are both excellent, the unemployment rate is very low, and the cost of living is affordable. Florida's tax structure can be very favorable—there's no personal income tax. House prices are low and appreciate quickly, and utilities are inexpensive. Punta Gorda's 14,000 residents also enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a very low property crime rate, an extremely low personal crime rate, and low health care costs. Punta Gorda's climate is comfortable and commute times are short. A very poor transit score and a significant lack of recreation options only partially offset the great quality of life Punta Gorda offers.

Warm Mineral Springs
The Springs is the only warm mineral spring in Florida. Its water has more mineral content than any spring in the USA; Third highest in the world!

Warm Mineral Springs, formerly known as Salt Springs, is a 1.4-acre, 230 feet deep hourglass shaped sinkhole (or cenote) connected to the Floridian aquifer.
It produces over nine million gallons per day of new waters, coming from over 1,000 meters (over 3,000 feet) deep in the ground, infused with the richest density of minerals of any known warm water spring in the world. |
The limestone bedrock from which the sinkhole is formed comes from marine rock. The oldest (lowest) stratum of rock is estimated to be 20 million years old. An apparent earthquake caused the cave some 20,000 years ago, resulting in the accumulation of debris cone (that may be 30,000 years old) at 230 feet deep. Due to the evidence of stalactites, the cave was once dry. Apparently, the Ice Age caused the sea level to drop considerably below 100 feet its current level.
Also known as The Fountain of Youth!

South Gulf Cove is a unique deed restricted waterfront community built on approximately 6,200 acres with 15,000 deeded lots, of which 4,734 are waterfront. The community has over 100 miles of roads within it's borders. Home site may be waterfront or not (dry-lots). The waterfront sites may have sea-walls or a natural canal frontage. Some sites are sailboat accessible, in other words, they have no bridges to go under, other home sites may have one or more bridges to go under that requires at least 10' of clearance.
South Gulf Cove has 126 navigable canals totaling approximately 55 miles. The waterways make up nearly 1/3 of ALL the canals in Charlotte County. The canals have made South Gulf Cove an island connected by four bridges. The Interceptor Lagoon leads to a lock providing access to the Charlotte Harbor, the Gulf of Mexico and the World!
